He was offended that I gave him the book. After a few days of being upset with me for giving him the book, he told me that he skimmed through the book but that he didn't have any interest on following what the book had to say. But it is a place for us to strive to be...as we do so with the help of God. The book, as do the scriptures, show us of our inadequicies in life and how we can do nothing in our own power and strength...BUT BY GOD AND GOD ALONE.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7493119695855925715.post-21702011616634502972013-08-11T09:09:38.734-04:002013-08-11T09:09:38.734-04:00I'm trying the dare on day 7 . I'm struggling on my end an I'm about to toss it out the window. The hubby with the book. Can't fix stuff on your own. I know that. It was written for the perspective of someone who learns to find god. You have no support to say that the Bible was rushed and any way. It really does not matter anyway because it was of the Holy Spirit(and he can't mess up). Also, "The Ends does not justify the means", God only works by his plan which is faith in the Cross. The Holy Spirit makes us what we ought to be and he only does this by our continued faith in who Jesus is and what he has done(The Cross). Otherwise you frustrate the grace of God that gives us the strength to be better husbands and wives. Basically, what you are saying is "God, we don't need your help to be a better husband or wive", your just saying that you can add these "laws" and the end result will be "I will be a better husband or wife, which helps my mariage survive". That is in contradiction to the bible,Stevennoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7493119695855925715.post-34415700901132782011-05-31T03:37:50.702-04:002011-05-31T03:37:50.702-04:00You said the Book was rushed, but I sure at certai...You said the Book was rushed, but I sure at certain points in the Bible were rushed too. I guess my main point is don't be a critic, as long as God helps marriages by appling God principles, then who cares weather the book was rushed or not.
Fireproof the Movie and the Love Dare may save my marriage and for that I will ever be thankful...Caboosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12357878667109455265noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7493119695855925715.post-26664500362526493962010-09-04T23:39:43.324-04:002010-09-04T23:39:43.324-04:00Yeah it was rushed. They never expected people to cry out for the Love Dare after they saw the movie. In any case they felt pressured and actually made up the book to fit the demand of hungry consumers. Be that as it may. It stayed faithful to it's first premise in not being preachy. At least it was consistent. Thanks for the honest words. I'm sure there is nothing lacking in their doctrine, cross is the focus for them, they just seemed concerned with the message not being too preachy. Oh well.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18379726620125437007noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7493119695855925715.post-69922664139347837292009-12-30T23:47:21.560-05:002009-12-30T23:47:21.560-05:00Thank you for sharing your thoughts. My husband and I just watched the movie-drawn more to the fact that it was about firefighting (we're both on the department) and less to do with the "healing or fixing" of your marriage. With in the first 15 min. we were both in tears saying "I love you", so thankful to have found each other through God. I am still interested in reading the love dare, hoping it might give me some inspiration in helping others with marriage "fire proofing". The hard times will always be there, so will God-sometimes hard to remember. Again thank you for your honest opinion.Tim and Tabithahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02234311391674342941noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7493119695855925715.post-33334622868643299042009-02-05T20:43:00.000-05:002009-02-05T20:43:00.000-05:00two thoughts:--what is the date of copyright for t...two thoughts:

--what is the date of copyright for the book? perhaps it can help reveal which came first?

--charity and i went and saw the movie a couple months ago. we'd heard very few of the details, and when they mentioned an important 40 day journey i tightened up and simultaneously felt my wife's sharp elbow pecking away at my ribs. i was actually relieved to find out it was love dare.danny2https://www.blogger.com/profile/13010556674654842010noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7493119695855925715.post-68701249740805255082009-02-04T18:53:00.000-05:002009-02-04T18:53:00.000-05:00Darby, Thank you for taking the time to read this ...Darby,
Thank you for taking the time to read this book and then share your review. Ironically, I was just looking at the movie "Fireproof" at our local Christian bookstore. I had heard of it and seen previews on TV so when I saw the display at "Bread Of Life" it caught my eye. I even intended to ask if you'd seen the movie.
It sounds as if the book shares the gospel as an afterthought rather than the most important thing.
Thanks again for sharing.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
